Emergency Preparedness

This site is designed to inform and educate veterinarians and the general public in regard to natural or man-made disasters. Being prepared is the best way to minimize problems when a disaster occurs.

The SCAV is a member of the South Carolina Emergency Support Function 17 – Animal Emergency Preparedness. This multi-agency group works statewide to prepare and respond to emergencies involving animals.


The South Carolina Veterinary Reserve Corps (SCVRC) is a unit of the US Surgeon General’s Division of the Civilian Volunteer Reserve Corps, a natural network of local groups of volunteers committed to improving public health and emergency response. SCVRC welcomes your participation as a volunteer.
